it drives me insane to hear people compare "queers for palestine" to "chickens for KFC" (a thing i have seen in real queer groups in israel as well), when israel is directly to blame for the animosity

the IDF keeps a list of Every closeted queer in palestine, blackmailing them to become informants for the military Or Else. ergo, gay men are implicitly viewed as "traitors" and "spies". this was revealed in 2013 by the Aguda for LGBTQ+ in israel but it's been going on for decades, because the IDF doesn't think it's noteworthy enough to hide evidence of.

had a discussion about a year ago where a hypothetical was raised: "if you could move israel to another place in the world, where there wouldn't be any land or heritage disputes, and no wars, and assuming israel was teleported as is to there, would you agree to have it moved?"

and *most people* didn't want to. *most people* said it would be a "disgrace" to "fallen soldiers" who've "protected this land."

this is what soldiers look like. fodder. not to the government, not to the military, to citizens and residents. the death toll is a means of legitimacy to the claim of a derelict deserted piece of dirt in the middle of nowhere. the Defence in IDF is for Israel, not Israelis.

my favourite example of the sheer lack of humanity from any higher-up in the IDF is the following quote from former Air Force commander, Dan Halutz:

"what do i feel when i drop a bomb on a village? a slight vibration in the wing."

so plastering 7.10 on a national flag is ok but spraypainting a big red X on it is "flag desecration" and "up to 3 years imprisonment"
