Isn’t it kind of weird that there are people on Fedi whose entire shtick is just taking posts from Tumblr/Twitter en masse and passing them off as their own?

Like, I’m sure we’ve all stolen a few posts here and there, but it’s kind of weird to just… Do it serially? It feels inauthentic to me IDK. And not like taking a screenshot, I mean copying the text over.

Is especially obvious because you can see that each “post” has a slightly different voice/writing style and it just is jarring.

Get your own material, stop trying to farm engagement

Like at that point, taking someone else’s words without attribution and passing them as your own is essentially using someone else’s creation to boost your own ego

This isn’t really inspired by any accts, but there are a few that give me the whole “yeah, I ripped these posts from tumblr, and what”

@yassie_j I genuinely feel bad for people who need the dopamine fix of engagement so much they'll lie and deceive to get it

@yassie_j ..most of my meme imagery comes from my google photos and i don't even remember the original creators because they were old meme images (which originated from twitter pre-elon) neofox_googly_shocked

But yeah, i agree with your statements... people really need to give credit before posting and not mark it off as their own material like idiots.. blobfoxannoyed

@delta @yassie_j at least they show that it is, in fact, someone else’s post, and usually show the username too

not just pass the posts as their own every time

@yassie_j Farming engagement on fedi is, was, and forever will be, tacky as shit. Don’t do that.

@yassie_j@labyrinth.zone I mean I used to provide the tumblr link to the thread back when I still was on tumblr.

@puppygirlhornypost nah, this is different – this is literally someone passing these posts off as thier own without linking back. Or at the least, not caring about the attribution of said posts

@yassie_j@labyrinth.zone if somebody wanted to farm engagement couldn't they post screenshots to a threadiverse instance like kbin or lemmy?

trying to do it on microblog fedi seems difficult

@yassie_j@labyrinth.zone i know at least a few accounts who do this

i just dont follow or boost from them, or boost occasionally if its really good, but... yeah, whats the purpose of those accounts? if you only try to farm engagement, then you're doing it for what? you're not poking back, so why the heck
