@ellie@yearning.gay when i had an iPad i'd use a web site that would generate desktop shortcuts with icons that were slices of my wallpaper. after i placed them at the right locations, it would create the illusion of having gaps in the grid layout.

@ellie@yearning.gay you can reorder them, but you cant have empty spaces. it fills in like a list of items. some people use invisible widgets (requires downloading custom widget app) to make gaps, but widgets are 2x2 or 2x4 and also have list rule applied. also your apps have to stay on grid, you cant change grid size
