the lars deletion is making me realize some stuff about the tech behind fedi

seems like misskey handles account deletion very differently. the new larsfrommars toot.garden account is just being handled as a new normal account on eepy moe

isn’t account deletion permanent and irreversable on *oma?

@deci@eepy.moe seems like it according to the settings. its the same for mastodon as well according to the documentation
and also the same for ff/is and sharkey, not sure about misskey itself
but yeah the new account federates to here but it still has all of the old posts cached and stuff

@deci it is reversible but requires intervention by the server admins.

@deci no deletion is permanent and irreversible on anything that handles databases smartly, bar the database itself failing (which is a common occurence on fedi tbh)
there's no tools for it but if you're willing to get your hands dirty no data is ever truly gone
