i still remember this one commentary video of this guy trying to make the case that midi-based music should make a comeback in video games because "producers use vsts and itd be faster and save memory if it was played in real time" like yep good idea 😁
@ellie i hate consolidating tbh i dont like space it takes and not having the ability to tweak things so usually what ill do is turn off the most cpu heavy vsts until i render
the plugin performance monitor window is hella helpful for this

@magmaus3 i mean yeah tracker music is essentially just a few oscillators but this dude was talking about fully orchestrated soundtracks as if that wouldnt recquires gigabytes in vsts and insane overhead because of dozens of vsts having to do real-time fast fourrier 😭
@magmaus3 he was making a valid point about streamed audio making osts a lot less dynamic to in-game action but the solution to that problem is better solved with stems and sequenced audio
