Why does everyone keep saying that Swedish ⟨å⟩ is pronounced /ɒː/ or /ɔː/

It is very clearly /oː/

All the Swedish vowels have shifted around in a widdershins motion

@nightjar those are not the same for me.

@owl I'm sure there are dialectal variations. The Norwegian one sounds a lot more open to me, too

@nightjar i think anglophones see a funny ⟨a⟩ and think of it as being "⟨a⟩, but quirky"
unless you mean actual pronunciation guides

@turtle it's definitely more open in the Danish and Norwegian samples I've heard so far. But as for Swedish, isn't ⟨o⟩ pronounced /uː/ anyway?

@nbsp I keep hearing the same thing from speakers with native or at least several years of experience and it just doesn't add up to me
