i should really move to firefox but every time i think about it mozilla does something entirely indefensible

like now that both companies are dogshit i have to judge the browsers as products and firefox has been consistently awful to use for me for the past three years

but guh manifest v3 though. iunno. opportunity cost is too high for me at this point

@itzzen none. pick a browser and shut up. all of them are either obsolete, reskins of chrome, or the two that are also garbage for mildly different reasons. evangelizing firefox is at best virtue signaling

@itzzen it seems like every two months there's a new wave of google doing this indefensible thing and you should switch to firefox now ‼️ and when mozilla fucks up everyone clowns on em but keeps firefox out of it

@nbsp @itzzen tbf Mozilla also appears to be largely keeping Firefox out of it (they barely touch it anymore)
I just use it cos market share and adblockers still work atp

@alfredohno @itzzen sure but it's empirically been worse for me and i'm not going to make this political move "for the ecosystem" in support of a company like mozilla

@alfredohno @itzzen it's not like i recommend chrome, when i help people install new computers i usually install firefox on it
but the act of Moving is more hassle than staying on chrome is (and has been for three years)
and the act of Talking about it is just so worn out and meaningless at this point

it's the reason i'll not update chromium for the longest time and the reason i'll move to firefox eventually
but the sentiment i've been seeing for so long is like "support the underdog. support a free internet. say no to big companies" and it's fucking mozilla??? like bruh.

@nbsp @itzzen It;s whatever. There are no good options anymore. It just feels like admitting defeat to me personally to not even try to keep some semblance of competition existing, even if it only does to prevent a lawsuit. I agree Firefox shouldn;t be evangelised, it;s not a solution, it;s a stop gap at best, but I also get why people use it and reccomend it
