i can totally see how a subset of this can be isolated and used in an innocent context! i really do. that said, i have never, in my entire life, seen a situation where one has never bled into another. every time i've seen this kind of story, it's always the same key points- somewhere along the line, someone gets drained.

i ask that others at least try to understand our point of view before slapping us over the head and calling us weirdos.

@nbsp @shitpostalotl @ellie something that isn't brought up nearly enough in all drainer discourse is that in the vast majority of cases, we understand (or at least try to understand) what we're getting into; what the benefits are for us, what are the pitfalls, etc.

when music critics refer to us having "bad taste", they're pulling the minority of cases and generalising it across everyone involved, which is reductive, and entirely wrong.

the issue has never been with being bladee, yung lean, or ecco2k. the problem has always been those who pull people into this genre without giving them ample opportunity to learn and discover themselves properly. this is why we get cases of dedraining and drainual abuse.

i've never seen any real evidence that being a a drainer is based upon pitch or rythm- this has been tacked on after the fact by those who view our identity as mid or gay.
drainification, almost by definition, appears to draw very close inspiration from gecification. even if this is wrong, i have personally seen many people in my own circles use drainifcation with gecual connotations.

that said, i actually don't have a big issue with drainification! the difference is i personally view it as mid because i personally see those gecual roots.
i have no problem with hyperpop, but creating a subset of that sound that's "safe for drainers" is incredibly weird and creepy behaviour, and that's what i'm personally seeing happen here.

as i've said before, i've seen this all happen time and time again, just with a different beat. if y'all are truly safe in your soundcloud groups, that's great!! but it makes the rest of us pretty uncomfortable when one side of our timeline is referring to drainers sexually, while the other side are literally drainers. seeing the sexual side applauding the other is also a Huge Red Flag for me in particular.
